POEM: Heartbreak - How to trust your heart

This poem gave me so much strength. It helped me when I felt guilty, ashamed for being sick or lost hope when I didn't seem to get better

Heartbreak: How to trust your heart

This heart, it hurts

It hurts like hell

The tide won’t turn

The pain wil swell

It’s just to hard

You cannot cope

But something in you

still has hope

Your heart

though faint

and frail

It cries to you

You did not fail

Don’t leave us now

Your heart implores

We’ll come back stronger than before

You’re not alone

Please don’t be sad

Please fight for all those dreams we had

You tell your heart it’s all a lie

I have no wish to touch the sky

Your heart it says

that isn’t true

You lost your way

But you’ll come through

And though your thoughts

may drag you

to depths unseen

You feel your heart so loyal within

It won’t give up

It won’t give in

No matter who betrays your trust

In shame, in pride, in foolish lust

Your heart it says

I’m staying here

You take your time

on every tear

And I’ll be waiting

when you’re done

You think you’re lonely

but we’re one

You ask your heart

but why believe

I failed us once

why don’t you leave

Your heart, it smiles

and filles your chest

Don’t you know by now

I know you best

I lay inside you every night

I heard those fears you could not fight

I felt that joy, those moments too

You see I’m here in all you do

But I am just a heart my friend

To make this work, you’ve got to mend

I need you to get up and run

And carry us from now as one

And as you both begin to breath

Your heart it says

now please believe

No matter what the world may do

I’m just right here

inside of you

Note: it's a slightly changed version of the original poem. I made it shorter and changed a few things that aligned more with my life and situation at that time. I recorded that version on my phone so that I could listen to it when I needed it. The moment I find how to upload that, I'll upload that version here :)

She also made a video that goes with the original version of the poem.
